Has anybody got any suggestions for good roads, rides, and places to stay and eat in Nortnern New Mexico?

I've visited northern NM a couple of times. Its beautiful. I think I could live there. I stayed in Santa Fe a couple of times. Near the old city. Stayed at the usual motels although there are some very nice places, and pricy as well. If you are going to visit northern NM you should visit Santa Fe.

Passed through Taos. would like to go back and spend more time. Seems to be a very artsy crafts sort of place.

I'm sorry I cant remember the names of the highways but I have traveled from Clines Corner north through SF up into Colorado through Alamosa. Very pretty ride. Also have been south from Pagosa Springs CO then cut across through Tres Pedras (sp)NM to Taos and Eagles Nest. Find these cities on a map and you can figure out the highways. I've been told that from Albaquerqui ( that spelling really doesn't look right) up through the four corners area is a great ride.

Really, a pretty part of the world.  

been there done that, almost the same route. from florida to durango and back i was gone 13 days. alot of great memories. would'n mind a replay?

Lots of great sights to see, little traffic, good roads, etc.  

Rosarito is always a good place to stay!! the ladys the clubs its a nice ride and its only 2 hours away from the border, so it its still americanized in that area.  

I agree... Chama, New Mexico is a great little town, check out the green chili in the local tex-mex joint.  Head up north to Durango, and take the Wolf Creek Pass throught the big rocky mountains for an unforgettable journey.  You won't forget this trip!

Be sure to stop in Clayton. Nothing much there but some of the most beautiful women in the state! IT's not a really big place and I have no idea where all those women came from the time I was there, but it sure was a place worth seeing!! Oh, and that's where the notorious Blackjack Ketchum was hung. Lots of dispute as to how it happened, but in the procedure they yanked his head clean off. Okay, so it's not a flower mansion; it's still history.  

I did this same ride June/07.  Stayed in a beautiful hacienda in Santa Fe with a group of rider friends.  Be sure to ride the Enchanted Circle and the Cimmaron Pass.  Eagle Nest is an awesome little village with gorgeous scenery too.  

I grew up in Chama, NM.  Taos and Santa Fe are overrated IMO.  Great for hippies and artists, but not real northern NM.  Chama is a great start into the mountains.  The road north up through Cumbres Pass (17???) and beyond is breathtaking.  Hwy 64 over the mountains between Chama and Toas would be a good one too.

My favorite restaurant in Chama has since closed, but nearly every hole in the wall restaurant will have excellent New Mexican food.  It's different than any other Mexican food, and almost always comes with the choice: red or green (try them both but green is more classic NM).

Better yet, stop into any coffee shop or gas station, and tell them a schein (shine) sent you.  It's that small, and they'll point you to the good stuff.

West toward Farmington is a little dry.  More Oil drilling than good views.  64 toward pagosa and up Wolf Creek Pass aren't bad either.

Though I'm not lived in Mexico, one of my friends lived there. His name is Nadal. We usually ride in Northern New Mexico on Sundays. All roads in Northern New Mexico are good to ride. Places like Rosarito may give you a new experience.
I like Mexico and the people of Mexico very much....
