Reading my after market Chilton maintenance manual, it tells me to remove the throttle drumb cover and mounting bracket as the first step in lubricating the throttle cables to the carb. My 2002, VT 750 CDC Honda Shadow Ace Delux doesn't have a cover or bracket. I purchased the bike as the third owner but with only 910 miles in 2 years. My local dealer tells me the cover and bracket is not available for my bike but the cables are exposed as well as an adjusting screw for the carb. Is this right? The throttle cable connection is just about the same height as the air cleaner but on the other side of the engine. I am tempted to try to find something to cover and protect this assembly. Anyone have any information on this?
thanks, Roy

First, find a new dealer, find one that is more interested in providing service than than selling you a new bike. Second, look here: http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/thumbs.cfm?man=ho&groupid=12490&parent=12480
see if you can find what your looking for here. I'm not familiar enough with your bike or this issue to be of much help but you may find what you are looking for here.
